Going into the season, it was our intention for Jonathan "Grig" Armao to be our starting jungler, until he discovered pain in his wrist that got progressively worse over the course of the off season.
We went through a long diagnostic process and recovery process while Matthew "Akaadian" Higginbotham was promoted to our LCS team, and Gabriel "Fanatiik" Saucier was brought on as our Academy substitute for the short term.
After consistent physical therapy, Grig's wrist seemed to be in shape for him to practice, but it was late into the season and Akaadian had integrated well into our current structure that we decided it would be best for Grig to finish off the split in Academy and for Akaadian to be our primary jungler for the remainder of Spring.
We will be using the time before LCS starts as well as some of the earlier season to determine how to leverage two players for the position to strengthen the team. We will keep everyone updated as we go through this process, but please cheer on both of our junglers in the meantime.
We revamped our Academy program this year and while we are delighted with the Spring Academy titlewe feel that there is a lot more work to be done to help discover and train new talent in our region and we hope to continue to push on that boundary. We initially met Spica at Riot's Scouting Grounds at the end of where we were impressed by his skill and work ethic -- he is joining us in Los Angeles after finishing up his senior year in high school.
We're also excited to invite our trainee AD Carry, Johnson "Johnsun" Nguyen to work with our academy team pending his visa approval. Tweet Share. All Rights Reserved.Toggle navigation. Do you want to help? Just register and log in to edit our pages.

Hidden category: Pages with hard coded colors. This page was last edited on 18 Marchat Both teams are looking exceptionally strong coming into the series and will surely provide games worthy of their shared legacies. The stakes are high as ever with their legacies and title hopes on the lines. The teams have intriguing matchups with each other, and specific win conditions that any fan of the LCS should be aware of being champion select starts on Saturday.
Their previous matches against TSM went in their favor, and these games will likely be similar. The ability to utilize a seven-man roster will also be a major advantage for them. Their primary goal for beating TSM revolves around a safe early game and strong mid game. In their match against Echo Fox last week TSM displayed how truly terrifying their early game can be. Their overall strategy will be to minimize losses in the early game and scale up for a bit before picking key fights.
There are some important aspects of how they do this. First of all, obtaining a good matchup for Licorice is imperative. Since he joined the team last year, Licorice is known for his incredible performances. He can play a variety of different champions and styles, allowing him to prosper in any composition. Broken Blade proved to be a menace with his split-push Neeko pick and can be a considerable threat. Licorice will need to be put in a favorable, or at least manageable, matchup if C9 wants to succeed.
TSM has shown the ability to play scaling carries, but also a proficiency at playing early game bottom lanes too. Champions like Kalista, Lucian, and Alistar all can dominate lane and take early turret plates.
In terms of skill, the lanes are relatively evenly matched, but drafts can make a huge difference. It will be ben eficial if Sneaky pilots a safe carry like Ezreal or Sivir into these types of matchups. TSM, on the other hand, wants to get a lead early and snowball it. Their series against Echo Fox proves that they can absolutely dominate the early game and that they can draft intelligently to do so.
There were games where C9 was exploitable in the early game and made mistakes that TSM can certainly punish. In terms of lanes, TSM can choose to play through any depending on their draft and matchups.
The highlighted player though should be Bjergsen in the mid lane. Every longtime LCS viewer knows how strong Bjergsen is as a player and his ability to carry games.Due to high server loads caused by the —20 Coronavirus PandemicRiot's match history system is experiencing large amounts of downtime, and without it we are unable to process any stats.

After All or Nothing disbanded, Reginald decided to continue his competitive career by building a team in support of his site Solomid. TSM took first place in their group, going and being the only team to lose to the Singaporean team, Xan.
Team SoloMid then met the French against All authority squad in the semifinals of the double elimination playoffs. TSM was defeated by aAa and knocked down to the loser's bracket. Team SoloMid met Epik Gamer, a fellow North American team, and defeated them to advance to the loser bracket finals where they faced aAa for a second time.
In a close match, against All authority bested TSM and took the series. Team SoloMid attended several circuits in the Preseason 2.
Once Season 2 started, TSM continued to attend events. Two months after Kiev, on March 13,TheRainMan resigned from Team SoloMid, citing differences in training regimen plans, as he wanted to focus more on solo queue while the rest of the team wanted to focus on full team scrims. TSM accrued by far the most circuit points out of any North American team, and so received the top seed to the season 2 regional finalwhich they won. At WorldsTSM received a group stage bye as the top North American seed, but they lost in the quarterfinals to eventual second-place team Azubu Frost.
Though the community as at first skeptical about the change, WildTurtle was quickly accepted after scoring a pentakill on Caitlyn against compLexity Gaming in his very first game with the team.
The following splitthey found themselves lower in the standings, winning only half of their games in the round robin. In the playoffsthey defeated CLG and then Vulcun to make it to the finals before losing to newcomer Cloud9who had just been promoted into the LCS that split. This year, it was Cloud9 that got the bye to quarterfinals at the World Championshipand TSM were unable to advance past the group stage, placing fourth - behind Lemondogs and ahead of the wildcard team GamingGear.
They won their seriesand North America beat Europe in combined score. TSM's spring split went better than their season 3 summer split had, and they ended the round robin with a record - just two games behind Cloud9. However, once again they found themselves lacking in the finals of the playoffslosing to Cloud9 in another series. With those roster changes going into the summer splitTSM struggled early on. Partway through the split, they added former MiG Frost AD carry Locodoco as a coach, but it wasn't until they replaced Gleeb with Korean import support Lustboy that they started to rebound.
With Lustboy, they finally accomplished what they hadn't been able to since Cloud9's entry to the LCS, and won the playoffs with a victory over their rivals.
It was the first time that TSM with Dyrus had advanced past their initial seeding location at a World Championship, though they lost in the quarterfinals to eventual tournament winners Samsung White. Amazing left TSM shortly after Worlds ended, citing homesickness as one of the reasons for his departure.
Faced with residency requirements, TSM were unable to use any foreign player as their jungler, unless it was someone who had already been playing in North America the previous split. In November, they signed former Team Coast jungler Santorin as Amazing's replacement; though he was initially from Europe, he qualified as an eligible player due to his participation in the North American challenger circuit that year. They were seeded directly into the semifinals, but there, they suffered an upset loss against the eventual runner-up Unicorns of Lovewho had just qualified for the EU LCS.
TSM began the Spring Split with an record after five weeks, holding first place during every week after the first. TSM finished the spring season with a record, giving them the top seed into the playoffs.
However, they fell to fifth place by the regular season's end, their lowest placement to date. TSM had already qualified for Worlds after their semifinal win due to their Championship Points from the spring split, and they ended up with the second seed from North America.Due to high server loads caused by the —20 Coronavirus PandemicRiot's match history system is experiencing large amounts of downtime, and without it we are unable to process any stats.

Galatasaray Esports.TSM shocked the League of Legends world when it made a surprising jungle substitution a week before the playoffs. Akaadian was no doubt in a slump over the last few weeks of the season, but this was still a stunning change so close to the playoffs.
But in trying to explain himself, he may have muddied the waters even further. They were up on the two-time defending champs before throwing it all away.
But according to Parth, that performance was a mirage. Before getting reverse swept by Liquid, TSM had reverse swept C9, which means they easily could have been out in the semifinals. Heading into the Summer Split, Parth knew what he wanted to change. After Grig had healed somewhat from wrist issues that delayed the start of his season, Parth wanted to go back to him.
Parth was right about his team and his view on the two players. But instead of sticking to his guns and handing Grig the role, he decided to keep both players in the dark. Over the span of four seasons, TSM have churned through three supports, a top laner, two ADCs, and a whopping four junglers.
Between splits, Parth spoke to both Grig and Akaadian and expressed how the team wanted to give both players opportunities in a six or seven-man roster. Other teams have made great use of such conventions, including the Fnatic squad that made it to the Worlds finals last year.
TSM obviously have more data, including scrims that are unavailable to the public, with which to evaluate their players. The coaching staff promptly ditched that system and opted to start Grig based on his stronger performances to date. Grig started both games in week three of the Summer Split. The former just defeated the TSM —with Spica—in the playoff quarterfinals. And the latter is considered by a wide consensus to be a stronger team than TSM right now.
The next week, the team did the complete opposite and gave scrim time and both stage games to Akaadian. Never mind that Grig was chosen first because he was supposedly performing stronger. Multiple sources, including a former TSM head coachhave said over the years that TSM is highly sensitive to scrim results. The team goes into each scrim trying to win, instead of working on winning processes, regardless of results. This series of jungler moves seems to be further evidence of that.
In reality, all five players on the team struggled to execute against superior European competition. But Grig went and you could tell where things were headed. Again, in accordance with its history, TSM decided to change things up.TSM: LEGENDS - Episode 2 - Tension
Akaadian was out in favor of Spica. The focus was on getting the rookie up to speed in preparation for the Worlds qualification gauntlet. This marks the latest move in a busy offseason for North America's most popular League of Legends franchise. Bjergsen first joined the team in November and has become an integral part of the building of its League of Legends roster. Akaadian had previously privately received interest from other teams, including Immortals, but will now most likely remain on the TSM roster in some capacity.
Xmithie received interest from nearly half of the league -- including a renewal offer from Liquid -- but TSM and Immortals ended up being the two final teams for Xmithie, sources said. With the signing of Kobbe and trades for Biofrost and Dardoch, TSM look to become a top North American team and earn a bout to the League of Legends World Championship -- a feat which it has not accomplished since late Once considered one of the best young jungle prospects in North America, Dardoch was frequently criticized during his time as a professional player on Team Liquid and Immortals for being difficult to work with, according to some of his former teammates.
